these are really easy to use (unlike the ergo!). our kid didn't like it when he was really little, but most babies do, and he loved it once he was able to face forward. however, they're not very comfortable for bigger babies, so i would recommend borrowing rather than buying one.

we got a lot of use out of this, and were even able to take it on a couple of airplanes and car trips. only good for babies that can't sit up on their own, but after that, you don't really need one anyway. some babies prefer those bouncy, vibrating seats, though (fisher price ones are good and cheap) so you might want to try out one of each before you buy.

cheaper than the medela one and, as far as i know, just as good. you will have to buy a cool bag for milk transportation ($10) and you might want to invest in some ameda bottles ($3) because the ink on these rubs off. The Medela pump is smaller, though, so if you are taking it to and from work every day that one might be better.

you could use reusable storage bottles but we found this easier. they take up less space and they reheat really quickly.

really useful, especially in the beginning. and good to have on your lap for airplane travel with a little one.

you'll need a bunch of these (or similar) to use as burp cloths

drs recommend these b/c of SIDS. we swaddled for five months, so used the medium, but most babies outgrow swaddling sooner. you'll still want one or two blankets for the stroller, etc. target has cotton knit ones that are nice in summer. if you get receiving blankets, get big ones like the aden and anais muslin wraps.

i also like the primo eurobath, but this one is just as comfy for infants and it is smaller and more convenient. we never needed or used the toddler size of the bigger bath. this one also comes with a cute whale toy.

one chemical-free body wash/shampoo is the only bath product you really need.

i wish i had found this sooner! expensive but nothing works better.

before the baby is born, you will want to have some nail clippers or files, some baby tylenol, some saline nasal spray, and a thermometer. that's really all you need.

for the diaper bag or super smelly poos at home. with these, we haven't really seen the need for a special diaper disposal thing. as for diaper changing, we really liked having a changing table, but you can also use a changing bad on top of a set of drawers. if you use disposable diapers, pampers are great for newborns are target are just fine after that. we also like target wipes.

we actually just use a fan for white noise, but this has lots of options and a built-in nightlight, and you do need a nightlight.

we love this because we travel a lot, and this is a better size and weight for airplanes. it's also really easy to set up. but the pack and plays by graco are much cheaper! you'll need a real crib as well, of course, and possibly a bassinet if the crib doesn't fit in your room!

really great, especially when they start trying to feed themselves! can be used for arts and crafts too. the bumkins superbibs are good too and a little less of a hassle to put on.

these make great starter sippy cups because of the soft spout and the ounce markers. the munchkin sippy cup is good too. the nuby is too hard to screw together.
